Before I knew I would actually dive into photography as a business, I was learning all I could online and in books. Against my husbands suggestion of doing landscape photography I learned very quickly that I most loved taking pictures of people. I loved the various ways people can be photographed. Posed, un-posed, out of their natural environment, in the comforts of their favorite places, alone, together in a group, from limitless expressions that convey the various emotions, to the countless feel an image can produce in different settings. I knew this was what I wanted to do, but had no idea that in time I would be actually doing what I love to do! – Those were the days, and Miss “A” was my muse… She was the pretty little girl who loved sitting in front of my camera and let me take her picture. She came with sparkling blue eyes, and perfect skin, even as a young child she was a stunning beauty. My sisters daughter. Always ready and willing to do a photo shoot for me.
I can’t even find some of the earlier “work” on my computer, but I did find a few images from about 5 or 6 years ago, when I was just starting to realize I might actually be able to turn this into a business… How funny it is to review images from so long ago.
So here is a short journey of past “photo shoots” with my beautiful niece:

This last one above is from 3.5 years ago, I had started getting a few “stranger” clients, people I did not know, hiring me to do their family pictures. Before then, for the most part I had only done pictures for people who knew me directly.
The next few are from year or so ago, when I had just invested in some hot studio lights. I called on her to come let me “practice” my lighting using her to model for me.

This was the last time I was able to get her in front of my lens, so this year I was thrilled to have her for the past weekend, and work with her again! I am pretty sure she had a good time, even though we were both ice cold outside!
We aimed for a few “teenage feel” shots with the first two. From stance, to expression, I think her and I nailed what we were aiming at. The rest of them I really focused on the eyes and mood. My belief is that the eyes can truly tell your story… Words can not even begin to express how true that is…
Enjoy:
Merry Christmas, to all.
